Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email sent to us for the purpose of responding. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical details when a visitor loads a page:
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Any referring website
- The time of each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that usage information for us. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the website work.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the website and maintaining reasonable load times
- Routing a search request to the provider that handles it
- Measuring which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. The published material identifies where Esmeralda County records can be requested, including the Sheriff's Office, Esmeralda Township Justice Court, the Fifth Judicial District Clerk, the Nevada State Police Central Repository, and the Nevada Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a third-party criminal record.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there, and we do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Esmeralda County Sheriff, Nevada courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may track activity across websites for targeted advertising. That process occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Outside search providers that process a query
- Services measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for the information we collect. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Nevada and federal law may provide additional rights. The Nevada Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, governs records held by public agencies, while NRS Chapter 179A separately controls dissemination of Nevada criminal-history information. Those government-record laws do not turn this private website into a public records custodian. Under this policy, you may:
- Request a copy of personal information kept about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of your personal data
- Decline certain forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. The replacement version will appear here with its new effective date.
